Don’t let good blogs go to waste! 3 ways to reuse content

Posted on Posted in Blog, Marketing

Creating regular blog posts that are timely, relevant and original can be difficult. As someone who has a client base of busy managers and owners who see the value of blog posts and delegate that task to a professional content writer, I get it.

There is a rush of accomplishment after a blog post goes up, right? It’s tempting to just check it off the to-do list and pat yourself on the back. Your content writer adds links and an image and shares it out on social media.

Done.

But know that those blog posts can be spun off in other ways that will help showcase your business, strengthen your branding and appeal to different potential markets.

A professional content writer can help you brainstorm ways existing content can see new life in different forms.

Breaking up is hard to do. (But not always.) Can any of your posts be broken up into two items (or more)? I just helped a client repurpose a blog post about an architectural photography project where she detailed the logistics of the work and the photos’ inclusion in an industry publication.

But months later, the project – with the photographs as part of the application – won an award. We created a press release on the award win. I then rewrote the blog post to focus on the collaboration and planning considerations that made the project such a success.

Spread your wings. Can some of your company blog posts evolve into an e-book? Can several blog posts morph into talking points for an industry seminar or new vlog? Maybe blog posts can inspire new tweets or other social media content. Try and see your blog content as just a beginning – seeds of other ideas that might appeal to other market segments.

Round it up. Roundups put content in a new, fresh format. Using your blog for ideas, create a list of your company’s Top 5 benefits to clients; hottest questions or industry myths. Develop a roundup of your team members’ spirit animals (with photos), New Year’s resolutions or favorite company products. This is where creativity comes in.

Investing in a professional content writer means maximizing your content through strategic reuse, communicating your messaging in new, fresh ways.
